Options Process
Article 29 (Goals of education): Children’s education should develop each child’s personality, talents and abilities to the fullest.
We aim to offer a personalised curriculum for all our students so that it continues to be broad, balanced, progressive and relevant to students of all abilities
We offer Year 9 students a choice on their learning journeys for KS4 that provide challenge and aspiration. As part of this options selection process, Trafalgar School offers students a range of three pathways, based on their prior attainment and individual need. This ensures our higher attaining students select an EBacc pathway while students who would benefit from literacy and numeracy support can access this as one of their options. We believe these pathways allow our students to make the best choices to ensure they leave Trafalgar School with the skills they need to access future education, employment or training.
Options pathways
In Years 10 and 11 students are provided with a range of pathways that are both challenging and aspirational. Personalised curriculum pathways have been suggested based on end of Year 11 targets as well as current performance data. We strongly encourage all students on both our pink and orange pathways to continue to study a language if they have done so in Year 9.

Key Stage 3 curriculum offer
Throughout Years 7, 8 and 9 students follow a variety of subjects as specified by the National Curriculum. These should extend and challenge students as well as linking closely with what they have learnt in Key Stage 2. Students are taught using a variety of approaches explicitly linked to our Trust T&L Principles and it is our intention that this will motivate students to achieve their very best as well as preparing them for college and life beyond school.
