Drama, Dance and Music

Our curriculum aims to challenge and inspire students to make excellent progress throughout the Performing Arts department. Through knowledgeable and motivating teaching, students will learn a variety of skills that build on subject specific knowledge from year to year, giving students aspirational goals for the future through our BTEC components.

Through dance and drama, students will learn to be responsible for their own process and personal development. We encourage students to take charge of their own learning, giving them an opportunity to explore the world around them through the practical application of a wide range of styles, and the study of practitioners; as well as to partake in practical group work and research tasks that focus on the development of performance skills and techniques.

Our teaching will inspire and encourage communication, team-work and build confidence from lesson to lesson. It is our hope that lessons equip students with the skills, knowledge and understanding of professional theatres and practitioners.

Through our extra-curricular provision, students will engage in all aspects of performance and expand their knowledge of professional performers.

Key Stage 3:

Students will be assessed on 6 strands, equally weighted, including: physical skills, theoretical content, tactical awareness, positional awareness, leadership and communication skills.

Welcome to Performing Arts.

I am delighted to welcome you to our Performing Arts page. I have been very fortunate to be part of Trafalgar for the last four years, where we have built a great team who are passionate about the students, their subjects and creating aspirational learning environments. Through our practical lessons you will have opportunities to learn new knowledge, work with new people, develop your skills and take charge of your own learning. Whether you are a performer, designer or a combination of both, I hope you come and see all the great things we are doing. We promise you will not regret it!

If you have any questions please feel free to email me.
