Students from Trafalgar School have been celebrating a successful year of GCSE results, with some excellent performances and grades! There were smiles all around as the young people opened the gold envelopes waiting for them.
Despite a new set of incredibly challenging 9-1 GCSEs, provisional progress figures at the school have increased and both English and Maths have performed well. The all boy year group achieved an increase of 20% in English attainment figures, with an impressive 59% achieving the new Grade 4. Similarly in Maths, 55% of young people achieved the Grade 4 they needed on the new exam papers, to continue on to their next steps in the adult world. Our new Head of School, Claire Copeland, commented that ‘schools across the country have found the changes to exams really challenging this year, so for our boys to do as well as they have done is an absolute credit to their hard work and effort. We, as teachers and staff, are very proud of them.’
There have of course been many individual stand out performances that are noteworthy as well, two of which coming from our very Head Boy and Deputy Head Boy, who achieved an incredible 15 A-A* grades between them and even had their pictures taken for the local newspaper.
We are extremely proud of all of our students and want to take this opportunity to wish them all the best in the future. At Trafalgar School we are looking forward to continuing our success next year with even more record breaking results!
