Once again our students have worked incredibly hard and secured individual results that they can be proud of! The class of 2017-18 was a brilliant cohort to see through and we look forward to hearing from them in the future about all of their amazing achievements!
Grade 7-9 Success
This year has seen a huge increase in the amount of students gaining the new top grades, Grade 7 (A), Grade 8 (A*) and Grade 9 (A**). An impressive 14 subjects increased their percentage of students achieving these top marks, meeting or exceeding our aspirational school targets. Particular congratulations go to the following boys for their superb attainment in very challenging subjects:
- Will Pearson: 2 x 9, 2 x 8, 3 x 7, 2 x 5, 1 x 5
- Robert Vasiu: 2 x 8, 5 x 7, 2 x 6, 1 x 5
- Connor Bennetta: 1 x 8, 4 x 7, 3 x 6, 1 x 5
- George Edwards: 1 x 8, 4 x 7, 4 x 6, 1 x 5
- Mahee Uddin: 3 x 8, 3 x 7, 1 x 6
Science and English Triumph
By far the biggest subject improvements seen this year were in Science and English. The pass rate for Science increased by a huge 12% on last year, and the percentage of students achieving Grade 7-9 has not only beaten the national average, but also exceeded targets that put them in the top 5% of the country for progress! Similarly, English grades have improved in a number of measures and again have exceeded targets that put them in the top 20% of the country for progress for Grade 7-9!
Continued Top Performance
Continued success was seen in both GCSE PE and BTec PE, with an incredible 92% passing the new and challenging GCSE PE qualification. Once again, both subjects have achieved excellent results, putting them within the top 5% of national progress figures. In addition to this, Computer Science is way above the national average for pass grades of 4-9 and 5-9 and continues to improve each year. Furthermore, Geography and Maths results remain steady and show some superb top performances from individuals.
At Trafalgar School we want to continue to build on this success – our aim is to provide an outstanding and broad learning experience for all young people, so we will endeavour to push grades and results even further. We look forward to working together with our local community in ensuring that every student and every subject at Trafalgar can achieve great things!
Finally, we are extremely proud of all of our students and wish them the best luck for the next steps in education and careers!
Note: targets and national progress is measured using Fischer Family Trust targets.
